Italy's Mirko Bortolotti will be racing with the Carlin team for the final two races of this season's championship at the weekend. The Formula 2 racer, currently lying fourth in the standings, will race in F3 Euro ahead of F2's own finale in Barcelona just one weekend later.

With just two races remaining this season in both the Formula 2 and Formula 3 Euroseries championships, 19-year-old Bortolotti - who replaces New Zealander Brendon Hartley - joins the established Carlin outfit as the championship returns to the scene of the first two races back in May.
"For sure, it will be a tough weekend," Bortolotti commented. "I won in Formula 3 Italy but I've been doing F2 all season and now I'm returning to an F3 car with different tyres and a different engine.

"It will be difficult - with only one hour's free practice on Friday - to get to grips with the car and also the track, which I have never been to before, but I will aim to learn and improve with every lap and I'm sure the team will support me so that we are in the best possible shape for qualifying. It will be tough but I am still pleased to have been given this opportunity."
"It's been a very eventful season and the F3 Euro Series has most definitely lived up to its reputation of being one of the most competitive championships at this level," Team Principal Trevor Carlin added. "We're very pleased to have Mirko with us in Brendon's absence although he will have a very steep learning curve in his first F3 Euro Series race."
