Nick Tandy is impressed with his experiences so far in the Formula 3 Euroseries after being offered a race drive by the Kolles & Heinz Union team. The Englishman, who won a race in his family-run Joe Tandy Racing car in British F3 earlier in the year, stresses the importance of being in association with a car manufacturer.
Having surprised many by winning in BF3 with a Mygale chassis, as opposed to the newer Dallara models run by most in the field, Tandy was hailed as a hero in the series following the tragic death of brother and team boss Joe in a road accident. Having stepped into K&H Union as replacement for Dutchman Carlo van Dam, the Englishman is positive for the future.

"The environment is particularly impressive," he explained. "Together with DTM, the Formula 3 Euroseries has got a great platform and the paddock appearance of the entire series looks really professional. I just couldn't reject this offer; I always dreamt of cooperating with a major manufacturer and now I have got the great chance of contesting the season with Volkswagen."
As well as greater input from a major car company, Tandy is also pleased to be able to compare data more within the team. "Since having entered single-seater racing I usually hadn't a team-mate," said the colleague of Denmark's Johan Jokinen, "so it's great to have one now!"
