After setting the pace in Friday practice, Jules Bianchi and the ART Grand Prix team have gone on to claim pole position for the first of this weekend's races in Holland on Saturday. The 20-year-old will line up on the front row alongside Christian Vietoris with Vernay and Bottas filling the second row grid slots.

Christian Vietoris' Mücke Motorsport car was classified second at the Zandvoort circuit, two and three quarter tenths of a seconds down. Signature's Jean Karl Vernay and best-placed rookie Valtteri Bottas ART claimed third and fourth place respectively. Bianchi set the pace in qualifying right away, claiming first place and retaining it throughout the session.

The second half of the half-hour period was dominated by three interruptions; the first involuntary break lasted for sixteen minutes - Kevin Mirocha's HBR Motorsport contender hit the Armco barrier and damaged it. The session could only be resumed after the repair works were completed.

Soon after that, Mücke Motorsport 's Sam Bird caused the second red flag by coming off the track. Briefly before the end of qualifying, an excursion by César Ramos' Manor was the reason for the third interruption.
