Bird satisfied with top practice result

Britain's Sam Bird was pleased to have found himself on the top of the timesheets when climbing out of his Mücke Motorsport car at the Norisring after Friday practice. Ahead of qualifying later in the day, the 22-year-old is the quickest man on the German circuit thus far.

"For me, this year is completely different from last year, because now I know the track," said Sam after the hour-long session. "When I arrived here, I wasn't quite sure whether I liked the circuit or not, but my engineer kept telling me over the radio: 'You like the track, you like the track!' - so I almost start believing it!"

With the all-important and grid-deciding qualifying coming up, the arguable favourite is remaining realistic. "Being in front at such an important event is nice, but so far it is only free practice," he added. "I don't think qualifying will be easy but I will do my best."
