Frenchman Jules Bianchi (ART Grand Prix) claimed his first victory in the current season of the Formula 3 Euro Series. At the 3.478 kilometres long EuroSpeedway Lausitz, he finished 2.776 seconds ahead of Valtteri Bottas (ART Grand Prix). The Finn was the best-placed rookie. After 23 laps, Frenchman Jean Karl Vernay (Signature) finished third.

On lap seven, Bianchi overtook erstwhile leader Bottas and then drove an undisputed victory home. While the positions out in front were taken, there was a battle for seventh to ninth place. Henkie Waldschmidt (SG Formula) withstood the pressure of his rival Christian Vietoris (Mücke Motorsport) for many laps and finally came home seventh.
Atte Mustonen (Motopark Academy), who had qualified third, had a rather poor start and retired on the opening lap already after a collision with Alexandre Marsoin (SG Formula).

Jules Bianchi (ART Grand Prix): "I am happy with my first win of this year and with my first place in the points' standings, which means a lot to me. After the season opener at Hockenheim a fortnight ago, we worked on the car and it already was significantly better here. I could overtake Valtteri because he had made a mistake. I hope to score more points tomorrow."

With his success, Bianchi took over the lead in the points' standings of the world's strongest junior race series. Vernay is second, three points down.
