Motopark Academy, one of the two new teams on the 2009 grid, has signed Atte Mustonen for its debut appearance in the Formula 3 Euro Series. The Finn has already got two years of Formula 3 experience under his belt.
In the past two years, Mustonen contested the British Formula 3 Championship at the wheel of a Räikkönen Robertson Racing entered Dallara-Mercedes and finished sixth and seventh respectively, in the championship. In both seasons, Mustonen celebrated a race win. In his debut season, he secured the win at Thruxton from pole position and clinched another pole at Snetterton. And in his second, he won the season kick-off held at Rockingham. Motopark Team Principal Timo Rumpfkeil early signed the Finn for the off-season tests. The tests took a satisfying course for both parties and consequently, they now agreed on continuing their cooperation for the 2009 season.
