Mäki signs Signature deal

Mäki signs Signature deal

04 February 2009

Mika Mäki, one of the surprises of the 2008 season, has signed a deal with French Team Signature and will race one of the three Dallara-Volkswagens in 2009. The Finn will replace Italian Edoardo Mortara, who finished runner-up for the Bourges based team last year and who now races in the GP2 Asia Series.

Mäki made a perfect debut on the F3 Euro Series grid in 2008 by winning the season opener at the wheel of his Mücke Motorsport Dallara-Mercedes. And on the second race weekend, at Mugello, he celebrated his second race win. Mäki secured another three podium finishes: at Zandvoort and Le Mans he came second and in the season finale at Hockenheim he finished third. In the Formula 3 Euro Series Championship, Mäki tied for points with fourth placed Renger van der Zande to finish fifth.

In the unofficial 2008 F3 World Finals, the Macao Grand Prix held in November, Mäki contested his first race for Team Signature. The 20-year old from Tampere impressed with a great chase from his 10th-row grid position and finished fourth.
