After finishing outside the points in both races at Zandvoort Edoardo Mortara is still confidently leading the F3 Euroseries championship. The Signature driver failed to finish in the first race and finished one lap down on Van der Zande in the second race.
Looking back on the dramatic weekend in Zandvoort Mortara told GPUpdate.net: "For sure it could have been better. In Hockenheim we were quite fast and in Mugello too, so I was expecting a lot more of this weekend. This was also the first time my teammates were in front of me. They did a very good job in Zandvoort."
But the Italian remains optimistic for the rest of the season as he is still nine points ahead of Mika Mäki. "It was a little bit sad for the championship, because Mika Mäki has scored some good points," Mortara said. "But this was only one bad weekend and in the end it's about ten weekends."
"I did not expect to lead the championship after five weekends, for sure not. But we still have five weekends to go. At a couple of these circuits we have the possibility to do well, because we have some changes planned. Hockenheim will be good. And Le Mans should be good also, because we are a French team and they know the circuit very well."
