ASL Mücke driver Mika Mäki was involved in a heavy car accident in his home country Finland. The Formula 3 Euroseries driver allegedly joined an illegal street race and crashed a Nissan 350Z around 23.30 on Monday evening in the Asematunneli-tunnel in the city of Tampere, Finland.
The car was heavily damaged and Mäki was taken to the hospital for precautious checks. A number of pedestrians were hurt by debris flying of his car.
There is a speed limit of 40 kilometres an hour but it comes to no surprise that Mäki was racing through the tunnel faster than allowed the police confirmed to Finnish newspapers. The incident is now under investigation by the local police.
Mäki is currently in second position in the F3 Euroseries championship. The incident could not only lose him his drivers license but also a visit to prison for a maximum of 2 years.
