In a spectacular rain race, 19-year old German Nico Hülkenberg claimed his second victory of the season in the Formula 3 Euro Series. Sébastien Buemi and Romain Grosjean occupied second and third place at the 4.307 kilometres long track in The Netherlands. In the points' standings of the world's toughest junior racing series, 18-year old Swiss Buemi closed up to nine points behind leader Grosjean.

Hülkenberg was already leading the race as rain set in during lap seven. All drivers but Yelmer Buurman changed to rain tyres. As a result, the Dutchman took the lead. It took Hülkenberg until lap 14 before he could overtake the Dutchman again. The ASM driver didn't lose the lead until the end.

Nico Hülkenberg said: "At the start, I took the lead and I could immediately pull clear. Then rain set in. The timing for my pit stop to change tyres was optimal. After that, I drove victory home."

Sébastien Buemi commented on his race: "My start was quite poor. Unfortunately, my pit stop to change to rain tyres was one lap too late. After that, I was stuck behind Cyndie Allemann for about five laps before I could overtake her. But there was no way I could have overtaken Nico Hülkenberg anyway as he already was too far away."

Romain Grosjean said: "Today, I have made the first pit stop of my life, but unfortunately one lap too late. Nevertheless, I am happy with my third place as I only started eighth on the grid. I have scored more important points for the championship."
